Our Mediation Approach

Our mediation approach is holistic, client-centered, and designed to create meaningful progress towards mutual goals. We recognize that every dispute involves more than just legal or financial issues—it also involves emotions, relationships, and communication breakdowns. By creating a supportive and balanced environment (including taking into consideration the background and experience mediation participants are coming from) we help everyone identify their underlying needs and interests, as well as acknowledging the needs and interests of the other side, and we collectively work toward lasting solutions that address goals for all participants, as well as the necessity of compromise.

At the heart of our process is collaboration and empowerment. We guide participants toward practical, forward-looking resolutions that preserve dignity, reduce stress, and restore clarity. Our mediations emphasize open dialogue, mutual understanding, and productive problem-solving to move beyond conflicts with confidence. The result is a process that works to increase communication and, hopefully, the resolution of disputes.

Why Mediate?

Mediation offers numerous potential benefits such as saving time by resolving longstanding disputes, increased control over the outcome of a dispute (compared to leaving the dispute in the hands of a judge or a jury), flexibility through customized solutions mutually agreed to by both parties, and (if mutually desired) the preservation of relationships.

Important: Mediation requires an agreement on confidentiality. All participants must agree on the scope of confidentiality applicable to their specific mediation before the mediation session begins. We find that confidentiality can reduce stress compared to public mediations, and this atmosphere can foster increased communication and understanding between parties.
